Retro looking photographs somehow have been what I am tending to be doing more and more. I like the look and feel of them and there are many ways to work toward that goal. If you search “Create Retro Photos in Photoshop” I am sure there will be tons of tutorial. On this tutorial, I am assuming you are somewhat familiar with Photoshop to some certain degree. I will provide you the same action I used on the picture, and the textures that I used as well. The imagination can go on, you can add, change, and do anything you want. If you do get something done, and you like the result post back the link in the comment section. It would be fun to see what you have come up with. Let me know if you like it or anything you want to add or change. Will be greatly appreciated. If you like the tutorial pass it on, or follow me on Twitter so when I have more tutorial like this you will be notified.
0. Download the action set here, and the original image here
1. Load the image you want to work on, and load the action if you haven’t already.

2. Apply the action. If you don’t like how it look, make changes to adjust to your taste.

3. Load up the “ColorPaper” texture, can be downloaded here
4. Rotate the ColorPaper picture (under image menu), and do copy “Ctrl+C” [PC] or “APPLE+C” [MAC] and paste “Ctrl+V”[PC] or “APPLE+V”[MAC] on the original image.
5. Change the blending mode to “Multiply” with Opacity of 53

Picture should look something like this at the moment

6. Load up the “Scratch” texture, can be downloaded here
7. Copy and paste it on top of the original image. It’s smaller than original image, so you have to do a transform to make it fit the original image. “Ctrl+T”[PC] or “APPLE+T”[MAC]

8. Change blending mode to “Screen” with Opacity of 100

9. It’s a little too busy on the “Gourmet Teas” sign and the bottom right corner, but I like how the scratches look everywhere else, so I am adding a vector mask on the “Scratch” texture layer, and use Brush tool [B] of Opacity 61 around those area.

One of my favorite all-time movies has to be “Back to the Future” trilogy. It was super fun, exciting, and imaginative. It’s one of those successful movie that they could have made #4 part of the movie, but I am glad they didn’t. Just think about Indian Jones – Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for an example. The original trilogy was classic, and then they added #4. I gave it a chance and went to see at the movie theater. Totally went down the toilet. I didn’t even watch it again on DVD. Let’s say I refuse to watch it again on DVD. The whole movie was so cheesy (I mean, I know the first 3 were cheesy, but they were good cheese). The nuclear bomb scene was the point when I thought, “I want my money back after the movie, please! I will pay for the popcorns”
Anyway, back to this auto-lacing sneakers. This was one of the coolest thing I saw on Back to the Future movie. Marty was dressing up like his very own son in the future, and doc gave him this auto-lacing sneakers. It tied itself up when Marty pressed the button! How cool was that? When I saw this post, the thought of Marty McFly came right back to me. The future is here, and Nike has filed the patent on this sneakers. Don’t worry Jordans’ fans (talking to myself here) I am sure there will be an auto-lacing Jordans coming out as well. I will get one.
